A Better Life

Through the years of me serving fathers-to-be and new fathers, there are consistent things I hear:
”Im nervous, but excited.” and “I just want my child to have a better life than me.” are the most common.

Both make total sense. The first is all about never doing this before.

The second is something different. Regardless of whether a new dad had a great dad, a poor dad or an absent dad, every dad wants a better life for their kids. This is the great thing about dads. We recognize the deficiencies and strengths of our fathers and want more for the next generation.

Dads, you’re the best! Never give up on that dream of creating something better for your children. They deserve it. And, they should never be held back by the failures of our dads.

Be intentional, every day, about creating a better life for your children.

Imagine the day when your children discover they will have children and they tell someone, “My dad was a great dad, but I want an even better life for my child.“

That will be a good day!
